SUPPORT THE CHILDREN

It is difficult to describe the bond horses and humans have had for centuries. We all grow up with horses in one form or another and they become an indelible part of our childhood, whether it is reading “The Black Stallion,” “Black Beauty,” or “Misty of Chincoteague,” or watching “National Velvet,” “Fury," "My Friend Flicka,” and the countless other movies and TV shows about horses, even “Mr. Ed.” How many children have become infatuated with Trigger or Silver or Champion?

It's been shown that all the medication and all the therapy cannot compare to a simple look into the eyes of a horse and to have the horse listen to your command. For centuries, as long as man has bonded with the horse, those eyes have served as a mirror to the soul.  LillyWood Ranch utilizes their horses to give children a chance to bond with and learn from a horse.

Horses reveal their thoughts and feelings with their body language and behavior. They do not ask, demand, or expect anything from us. They want to feel safe, comfortable, and get along. Horses don’t see a child with autism. They see a child. Autistic children know this, and it feels good to them. In order for anyone, autistic or otherwise, to grow, heal, and have positive relationships with others, they must first have a positive relationship with themselves. Horses have the ability to make humans feel good about themselves.
